Small changes, big independence — in the kitchen
He used to cook every night before his injury. Afterwards, the kitchen became somewhere he avoided — too many steps, too much standing, too much risk of getting it wrong in front of someone.
We started small: reorganising the pantry at waist height, swapping to a one-handed chopping board, writing out his five go-to recipes in big print and sticking them inside the cupboard door.
The first few sessions I did most of the work while he directed me. By week four he was doing the cooking and I was just there in case something needed reaching.
Household Tasks support isn't about doing things for someone — it's about setting the kitchen (or the laundry, or the yard) up so they can do it themselves again.
